Huggies Diaper Deal -- Cute Packaging is EVIL!

I was reading the Target weekly ad (page 12) and saw that they are doing the Huggies diaper deal again. You buy 2 "big packs" of diapers, get a $5 gift card.

Try not to get sucked into the Huggies Jeans coupon/deal. Regular packages of Huggies wipes are $2.39 and the Jeans pack with the same count size is $3.99. This seems like a "good" deal because you can get 2 Jeans wipes and 2 Jeans boxed diapers, plus a $5 gift card, but here's the break down.

Huggies $3/1 printable coupon.
$.50/1 Huggies 64ct+ wipes (SS 5/15/11)

$2/Huggies Jeans wipes+Jeans diapers Target web coupon.

JeansSnug & Dry*
$39.98 -- 2 boxes of diapers
$7.98 -- 2 packs of wipes
$47.96 -- TOTAL
-$6 -- using 2 $3/1
-$1 -- using 2 $.50/1
-$4 -- using 2 $2/wipes+diapers
$39.96
$39.98 -- 2 boxes of diapers
$4.78 -- 2 packs of wipes
$42.76 -- TOTAL
-$6 -- using 2 $3/1
-$1 -- using 2 $.50/1
$37.76

*I believe the Snug & Dry and Little Movers are $1 cheaper at the Target I shop at, but for the sake of arguing (and the price they have listed on Totally Target, I used $19.99. The price was not listed on the website, so prices must vary across the country.

Prenatal Check-Up @ 14w5d

Everything is good. I've gained 6 pounds.

My iron is low. It's at 10.6, which should be remedied by be eating more iron-rich foods. If that doesn't fix it, I will have to be on iron supplements.

I don't remember what the baby's heartrate was. It was healthy, but in the lower ranges (like the 130s). Baby was probably napping because it's usually in the 140-150 range.

Back in 4 weeks. Hoping to schedule the BIG ultrasound then.

This baby is dramz, I tell ya!

On Friday, Dad came to pick up Lily so I could venture back to the hospital. I'm becoming a frequent flyer there and the doctors' offices. I was spotting again.

Once I was admitted to the ER, I got into the lovely gown and proceeded to try to relax. Of course, that didn't happen.

The nurse took vitals. The PA came in and tried to find the heart on doppler, which he didn't. The PA (Tom) sucked! In terms of bedside manner, he was okay, but they didn't find the baby's heartbeat on a doppler when we had found it previously. He didn't order an ultrasound at all. Just told me that it may or may not be a miscarriage and that we need to just wait and see.

I gave the usual blood and urine samples. They were also going to do an hCG quantitative, just in case my doctor wanted to repeat it on Monday. Then, I waited. Trying not to focus on the fact that they couldn't find the baby's heart. Of course, that lead to a bunch of tears. On and off crying.

I went home, trying to be optimistic. I called my Mom and she helped calm me down, then she told me she loved me, which made me start crying all over again.

Once I got home, I went to bed. Physically and emotionally exhausted. All the time, worrying about the little baby in my belly. Was the baby okay? Did the baby go to Heaven? All sorts of things a pregnant mother-to-be doesn't want to think about. She'd much rather be thinking about all of the things the baby's going to need and what colors she's going to pick out.

So, I followed up with my doctor today. His PA, Amber, who is fabulous and super friendly couldn't find the heartbeat either. She tried 3 times. Once with the crappy doppler, twice with the good doppler. Nada. She was gonna send me for an ultrasound, but they probably couldn't do it until tomorrow, so she gave me the option of the doctor checking.

Yes, please!

We waited a couple of minutes, which, in the moment felt like an eternity. I was so nervous. My heart was racing. Then, there it was. There my BABY!!

I ordered a doppler from Belly Beats. Amber said not to worry as long as there wasn't significant cramping and clots. Basically nothing more than spotting. And, I will have a doppler, so I can find the baby's heartbeat on my own.

I go back on August 30th.

Baby Update

Well, there was another trip to the doctor today.

My hCG levels from Friday/Saturday were compared with the blood the took Monday. Levels are doubling as they're supposed to.

Got another ultrasound today to see what they could see. I was given the regular ultrasound first to get measurements of the baby and my ovaries. All are healthy!

Next, I got a transvaginal ultrasound to get better pictures of my cervix and the placenta.

I have to call the doctor tomorrow to see what our next step is. Baby looks healthy though, so I just need to rest and relax. No lifting. No stenuous activity.

Our newest family member

By now, most people have caught on that I'm pregnant. I had planned to wait a couple of more weeks to break the news to the general population, but events that have transpired recently have changed that.

First off, the baby is due February 23, 2010.

I want on the birth control pill. LMP dating and the ultrasound agree that I'm a little over 9 weeks.

I had a check-up with my doctor for my annual. I was supposed to get my BCP refilled. The PA came in and sat down. Not a good sign. She said that I couldn't get my pills refilled, but gave me another prescription. For prenatal vitamins! What?!

I ran like a mad woman to the lab in the same building to make sure the test in the office was right. Those things have a margin of error! I don't care how minute, they do. Well, mine was correct. My pregnancy hormone level was low, but right about what it should be for as early as it was.

Daddy was told on Father's Day. He took the news so much better than I expected. Then, he freaked out, and still is. He'll get it together, but it's slow about that sometimes.

With everything the last couple of days, I've been under a lot of stress and had some spotting. My doctor suggested that I go to the emergency room to have everything checked out.

They can't find any medical reason for the bleeding and it stopped. Ultrasound showed a healthy baby. Yes, only one. I made the tech promise that there was definitely only one.

Now, just waiting for my Valentine.
